Jonathan Fagan and Pearl McNamara at the NECTen-Percent.co.uk Limited was formed in 2000 by 3 lawyers and a doctor. It is a legal recruitment consultancy, concentrating on the recruitment of solicitors. One of the directors had been through the recruitment process, and discovered that there was a gap in the market for an online legal recruitment company operating on the web, offering fast, hassle-free service for both candidates and clients. Ten-Percent Legal Recruitment was formed, and this website set up. 

We decided to call ourselves Ten-Percent on the basis that we uniquely donate 10% of  our annual profits to charity, and since 2000 we have gone on to donate many £000's to a range of charitable causes via the Ten-Percent Foundation.

In 2002 we established a charitable trust called the Ten-Percent Foundation. All charitable donations will be made through this in future. We get over 60,000 hits per month from lawyers using our recruitment services and law students using our legal careers information portal. Our costs are low and we get a significant proportion of our work through personal recommendations from candidates and clients whom we have already assisted.

How we work

We are already aware of a lot of vacancies and seek out new positions all the time. When you register with us, we let the firms in the area you seek employment know that we have a candidate looking for a particular type of work, and give them a reference number. If interested, they contact us, and we let you know the firm's details. If you are interested, we contact the firm and arrange an interview for you, letting the firm know your name at that point. 

We do not send out personal details, and never identify you prior to you giving us consent to reveal your name to firms. We are particularly successful in the regions, but regularly place candidates in the City and in Greater London. Our service is different to the normal recruitment consultancy. We do not pressure you into accepting positions or interviews, but instead make you aware of the opportunity to speak to interested firms. 

We do not have a quota of CV's to send out, there are no targets for us to reach, we do not employ salespeople to "sell" candidates, and we are pleased for you regardless of how you obtain work (ie with or without our services).

Our Consultants

Hannah Luhde-Thompson deals with East Anglia, Surrey, the South West and Wales. She is an experienced recruitment consultant and management consultant, with a range of experience to date including time spent at the Legal Services Commission.

Pete Gresty is an experienced recruitment consultant handling the North West, Yorkshire and the South Coast. He has extensive knowledge of the UK legal recruitment market.

Sara Jenkins is an experienced recruitment consultant who handles the North East and the Midlands.

Jonathan Fagan deals with London, Scotland and offshore locations, together with law firm mergers and sales. He is an experienced legal careers coach and a recognised expert on legal recruitment. Jonathan enjoyed a career as a solicitor before joining Ten-Percent.

Our Directors

Jonathan Fagan LLM, LLB (EU), Cert RP, MREC is a solicitor (non-practising) and Managing Director of Ten-Percent.co.uk Limited. He studied law at Leicester University and Frankfurt University before training with a small high street practice in Leicester. On qualification he worked for a Chambers listed firm in Nottingham, before taking a full time role in Ten-Percent Legal. He has personally assisted many solicitors and legal executives find new posts across the UK and overseas, and also prepares CVs for a range of people in the profession, from senior partners to law students.

Pearl McNamara is the Finance Director of Ten-Percent Legal Recruitment, managing our accounts department. She coordinates our recruitment campaigns and is often the first point of call for candidates and clients. Pearl also operates our external transcription service, and coordinates our work across the Ten-Percent Group of websites.

 

Clare Fagan assists with the administration, management and strategic development of the company.

Our vision is to be seen as a reputable and reliable recruitment service for law firms and legal departments across the world. At the same time to provide a cost-efficient service to all users and offer free and paid ancillary services running parallel to the main website. We aim to be innovating at all times and have services on the site that are available nowhere else. Furthermore we want to promote the concept of donating Ten Percent of annual profits to charity and encourage other companies to do the same.
