Looking to merge or sell your practice, or do you plan to buy a law firm?
There are very few professional services out there to assist solicitors to buy and sell law firms, especially at a reasonable rate. One professional law firm consultant charges £2,500 + VAT simply to consider your sale or merger before even progressing to advertising it – and then charging a percentage fee on top if successful.
We offer a different approach. We charge no upfront fees at all for making introductions for the sale or purchase of a law firm – our fees apply only when a successful transaction occurs. The buying party contracts with us to pay a success fee dependent on the size of the business. There are no fees unless a successful sale or purchase is achieved.
If you are looking to sell or acquire a solicitors firm please get in touch. Email email@example.com in the first instance.
Naturally we will immediately sign a confidentiality undertaking and require any other parties to do the same during the process.
Valuations are best done by your accountants when anyone is ready to consider purchasing your firm, but usually it is a fairly straightforward process – turnover, net profit, number and type of ongoing files and value of assets including will banks. The price anyone else will pay varies widely according to the practice in question.. – the location, the assets, the types of law covered, the number of staff etc.. We think it unlikely that any upfront fee services can adequately predict what this will be and believe that making a payment to an ‘expert’ before anyone has actually indicated an interest in buying your law firm is very risky indeed, particularly when the fee is £2,500 plus VAT or more.
Drop us an email in the first instance – what have you got to lose?
NB: if you don’t want to identify your firm simply email us from a gmail or hotmail account (or similar). We can advertise your sale or purchase proposals to over 10,000 law firms and add you to our regular updates.
The procedure is as follows:
- All parties sign confidentiality undertakings.
- We agree terms with the buyer.
- The buyer is provided with further information about the practice for sale – usually equivalent information to the last PII return.
- The parties meet or speak about plans and proposals. These can be as wide as the partners of the selling firm joining the purchasing practice or the selling partners accepting a lump sum in cash to hand over the business.
- A deal is reached. The buyer contracts with us to pay an introduction fee. This varies according to the sale/purchase in question.

Unique Opportunity for a Clean Break – Offshore Law Firm for sale/partnership Ref VAC 17235
Very rare chance to take partnership in an offshore law firm. The practice undertakes a range of work that includes (properly funded) legal aid crime work – which is fairly lucrative without much competition, family and commercial. The crime work is a mix of mainstream general crime, some specialist complex matters and some military. The firm would be interested in speaking to anyone looking to run their own practice on a full time or part time basis. Not necessarily seeking an immediate buyout or purchase of equity. Opportunity to benefit from profitable levels of legal aid rather than punitive. Owner looking to move on to non-law related pastures new and move back on shore. Well established law firm in a stunning location offshore. Very similar law to England and Wales. Current partner happy to stay in situ to assist or sell outright. All options available for purchase – including working for the equity (very little upfront cash needed) and splitting the commercial matters away from the private work. This law firm purchase would particularly suit a crime solicitor looking to make a clean break and start again with an existing business already operating. The practice would also make a good branch office. Thriving local market for legal services with further expansion very possible. Location identified once a confidentiality undertaking signed. Contact us quoting the reference above.
NB: We undertake our work buying and selling law firms via our related company TP Recruitment Limited, which also operates www.tenpercentfinancial.co.uk
